HRP partners reach 5.4 million people with assistance in Q1 2021
During January-March 2021, humanitarian partners in Sudan reached 5.4 million vulnerable people with humanitarian assistance, according to the Humanitarian Dashboard – Q1 2021 issued by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on behalf of the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) partners.
During the first quarter of 2021, HRP partners reached 61 per cent of the 8.9 million people targeted for assistance in 2021.
Food Security and Livelihoods partners reached the highest number of people with assistance – 3.9 million people, the Health and WASH sectors assisted almost 800,000 people each and about 500,000 refugees received assistance. The refugee response has covered half of the one million refugees targeted.
Nutrition, education and protection sectors were the least funded each receiving less than two per cent of the requirements. HRP partners are advocating for early and flexible funding as the economic crisis and inflation are increasing the number of people in need and the severity of their situation. As of 29 June, HRP projects received 20 per cent of the $1.94 billion required funding.
