Logistics
23 organizations attended a visit by the logistics hub of the World Food Program (WFP) in April. They exchanged best practices in warehousing during the visit. The cluster seized the opportunity to provide a detailed briefing on its mandate and operational approach.
Within the framework of the River Transportation working group, WFP submitted a proposal to the cluster's member organizations to optimize cargo transportation costs in Delta Amacuro. This initiative proposes sharing space on the vessels rented by WFP, significantly reducing the costs associated with river transportation.
The working group on Imports is reviewing the action plans following a mapping of their import processes.
The Logistics Cluster shared the Q1 2024 report on quantifying the impact of logistics challenges on humanitarian operations. The document is intended to shed light on the work and impact of the cluster. Cluster reminded organizations that support needed to solve operational difficulties ought to be reported in a timely manner using the appropriate coordination mechanisms. Difficult access to fuel was the most frequently reported event, causing up to two days of operational delays per month in an organization.
